Tyler McStravick ’19, Nate Belcher ’18 and Nicholas Kurzy ’20 qualified for the finals of the 13th Annual WWII Quiz Bowl competition sponsored by the National WWII Museum in New Orleans.

The threesome emerged from the preliminaries to finish among the top two teams and will return March 30 to face Jesuit of New Orleans in a televised championship final on the local CBS affiliate WWL-TV (wwltv.com) at 6:00 p.m.

The competition was limited to one team per school and tested knowledge on battles in all theaters of the war, the homefront, political, military and popular personalities of the age, plus WWII geography,  wartime trivia and slang.  Questions were multiple choice or fill in the blank with teams gaining bonus points by completing Teamwork Challenges.

St. Thomas is currently ranked ninth in the state by the Texas Quiz Bowl Alliance, having already secured a qualified position for the 2017 High School National Championship Tournament held at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis May 26-28.
