Righthander Owen Meaney ‘18 (LSU) allowed only two hits while striking out 13 in a dominant seven-inning complete game, and Philip Matulia ‘18 (Louisiana Tech) hammered a two-run home run in a 6-0 victory at St. Pius X that raised the Eagles’ season record to 27-5.

Meaney (108-66) faced only 27 batters, holding SPX hitless with runners in scoring position (0-6) in his most commanding start of the season.

The top-10 state-ranked Eagles scored single runs over four consecutive innings before Matulia’s bomb in the seventh capped their fifth straight win.

St. Thomas swept the final two games of the series and are now 8-3 in the district, having clinched the number two slot for the upcoming TAPPS Division I playoffs the night before with a 5-2 win over Tomball Concordia Lutheran at Fr. Wilson Field for the 100th Eagle victory for head coach Ryan Lousteau.

Designated hitter Max Winter ‘17 and Logan Bear ‘17 each contributed clutch two-out RBI and shortstop Brandon Campos ’18 added a run scoring single as the Eagles continue their surge to close out the regular season.
