Class of 1906
Born 1889, Shaw, Mississippi; came to Houston, 1892 enrolled in
grade VI, 1900, first year of operation of Austin Street location
of St. Thomas College; graduated 1906. Graduated University of Texas
School of Medicine, 1912. First St. Thomas graduate to become a medical
doctor. Interned at St. Mary's Hospital, Galveston, member of Phi
Beta Pi Medical Fraternity. On staff of St. Joseph's Hospital, Methodist,
Heights, Herman, Southern Pacific. Taught student nurses at St. Joseph's
Hospital School of Nursing. Served in WW I as front line medical officer
with rank of captain; cited for bravery.
Returned to Houston; married Ella Gertrude Mueller R.N.; two daughters,
Bertha, Louise of Brenham, Texas. Medical Examiner WW II, Harris County.
Man of great
integrity, charity, self-sacrifice and courage.
Inducted posthumously into Hall of Honor, February 12, 1976.
