| Mr. Lupe Z. Fraga
Class of 1953
While attending St. Thomas High School from 1949 through graduation
in 1953, Mr. Fraga was very involved with sports and student council.
He was on the honor roll all four years and a member of the Letterman's
Club.
Mr. Fraga attended Texas A & M University graduating in 1957
with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. While attending
college he was elected to the Phi Eta Sigma Honorary Society for academic
excellence, played on the
varsity baseball team and was a member of the prestigious Texas A&M
Lettermen's Association. He also received the Ted Mohle Accounting
Award for excellence. Following his outstanding college career, Mr.
Fraga was commissioned an officer in the United States Army. He was
honorably discharged with the rank of First Lieutenant in 1961. Following
his discharge from military service, Mr. Fraga organized Tejas Office
Products Inc. which he continues to manage as President and Chief
Executive Officer. Mr. Fraga has been the recipient of numerous awards
including Hispanic of the year (1993) by Fiestas Patrias, Businessman
of the Year (1991) by Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Hispanic
Business Top 500 from U. S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (1985-1993)
and Hispanic Profile of the Week by KTMD-TV (1992). He has also served
as Chairman of the Board of the Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce
(1993).
Mr. Fraga is a member of the National Board of Directors of the YMCA,
was named Chairman elect of the Greater Houston Visitors and Convention
Bureau (1994) and appointed trustee to the Strake Foundation. Other
civic affiliations include Sam Houston Area Boy Scouts, St. Thomas
University Board of Trustees, Harris County Child Protective Service
and the Ray Childress Foundation.
Mr. Fraga is married to Irene and they have three children, Michele,
Alisa and Stephen.
