Mr. William H. Goetzmann Ph. D.
Class of 1947

Graduated from St. Thomas High School in 1948; Yale University 1952; Magna Cum Lande; Member Phi Beta Kappa; Doctorate in History, Yale, 1957; Taught atYale until 1964. Joined staff of University of Texas,1964; Now director of Department of American Studies, University of Texas.

Winner of Pulitzer Prize, 1967, for the book Exploration and Empire. Winner of much coveted Francis Parkman Award for the Society of the American Historians for best written book on American history during the year.

Author of The Eagles Screams; The Hegelians; numerous articles including "We Americans of National Geographic." Married 1953 Mewes Mueller, three children.

Inducted into St. Thomas High School Hall of Honor February 12, 1976.
