Leo
Edward Linbeck, Jr. is a noted Houston area businessman. He graduated
from St. Thomas High School in 1952. While there he involved himself
in a variety of academic and sports activities including football,
basketball, baseball, bowling, golf, as well as
participating on the yearbook and newspaper staffs. He was a member
of the Letterman's Club and on the Honor Roll.
He obtained his B.A. degree from the University of Notre Dame in
1956. It was then he launched his long and impressive business career
by first joining his family's business, Linbeck Construction Corporation.
In 1979, he was named President/Chief Executive Officer of the firm.
Currently, Mr. Linbeck serves as Chairman of the Federal Reserve
Bank of Dallas and is a member of the development Board for the University
of Texas Health Science Center at Houston and the Advisory Council
for its School of Public Health.
He is a former director of International Systems & Controls,
MorningStar Foods, Inc. and the Southland Corporation. He is a director
of Transamerican Mutual Funds advised by Transamerican Funds Management
Company, GeoQuest International Holdings, Daniel Industries, and Panhandle
Eastern Corporation.
Mr. Linbeck remains a strong supporter of Houston business and sits
on many boards and councils such as: The Greater Houston Partnership
and the Texas Council on Economic Education.
A strong family man, Mr. Linbeck and his wife Connie, have six children
and four
grandchildren.
