Prior to ordination to the Episcopacy in March, 1979, Bishop McCarthy
and served as Executive Director,Texas Catholic Conference, Austin,
1973-79; Pastor of St.Theresa's Church, Houston, 1969-72; Director,
Division for Poverty Programs, U.S. Catholic Conference, Washington,
D.C., 1968-69; Assistant Pastor, All Saints, St. Cecilia, St. Pius,
Pasadena, 1956-63.
Bishop McCarthy was inducted into the Hall of Honor of St. Thomas
High School on April 13, 1980
