Principal Aaron Dominguez

This vision set forth by the Basilian Fathers, our Board of Directors, and President Fr. Storey is for St. Thomas High School (STH) to be among the top ten all-boy, urban Catholic high schools in the country.

The opportunity to assist in moving STH from an exemplary organization to a top ten organization, while simultaneously expanding into the Joplin campus, will serve as the foundational focus of my leadership.

Welcome!

Welcome to St. Thomas High School, where teaching goodness, discipline, and knowledge to young men is our sacred mission. As I begin my 16th year working in education, I am honored and humbled to serve the St. Thomas community for the 2017 – 2018 school year. Coming home to St. Thomas as principal is a dream job and one the Lord has prepared me for throughout my career as a teacher and school leader.

The next several years at St. Thomas will be exciting ones as we expand into the new Joplin campus, increase our enrollment, and set our sights on being among the top ten all-boy, urban Catholic high schools in the country. As we pursue these new endeavors we will continue and expand upon the St. Thomas traditions of academic and athletic excellence.

I look forward to meeting and working with each of you as we together explore and attain unprecedented levels of excellence at St. Thomas High School. If you see me at a school event, walking the campus, or out enjoying our wonderful city please come up and introduce yourself, say hello, and share one thing that makes St. Thomas special.

Yours in Christ,
Aaron Dominguez ‘96

The principal’s entry plan will consist of three phases:
  • Phase 1 - Look, Listen, and Learn: June 1 – October 31
Phase 1 consists of listening to, looking with, and learning from the key stakeholder groups: students, parents, alumni, Basilian Fathers, Board members, school faculty and staff and community partners. Through this process I will host one-on-one interviews, small group interviews, focus group interviews, and community meetings. Please use the link below to offer some feedback about STH.
  • Phase 2 – School Readiness and Data Sharing: November 1 – February 16
This phase will first identify and bring to the attention of Fr. Storey any items for immediate attention/action. Additionally, data from Phase 1 will be desegregated and shared first with the St. Thomas Administrative Team and then with other key stakeholder groups.
    • One meeting with the board
    • 1-2 meetings with faculty and staff
    • 1-3 Community meetings
    • Video and/or PowerPoint shared via website, social media, and Big Red News
  • Phase 3 – A Call to Action: February 19 – April 30
Phase 3 will be the development of action plans by the Principal and each of his senior level leaders. Action plans will consist of two short term goals (1-2 years), one long term goal (3- 5 years), and specific action steps for accomplishing each.
In order to engage you in Phase 1 of the entry plan we will be hosting a series of morning and evening sessions where we will welcome your input. The sessions are as follows:

Coffee with the Principal September 5th, 6th, and 7th
September 11th, 13th, and 15
8:00 AM
Saturday Coffee with the Principal September 16 9:00 AM
Evening with the Principal September 5, 7, and 11 6:00 PM

If you plan to attend one of the sessions above, please send your name, the date and time you want to attend to EventRSVP@sths.org. Please write “Entry Plan” in the subject line.

Thank you for your commitment to and love for St. Thomas High School as we grow into one of the top schools in the nation.
