Important Announcements
Important announcements regarding college planning per classification are below:
Seniors
All college applications should have been submitted online by November 1. Following their submittal, you should have notified your counselor with a “Request for Transcript Release Form.”
All parents of seniors should file their FAFSA information online during the first week of January. The web site is: www.fafsa.ed.gov You should file irregardless of whether or not you believe that you will qualify for financial aid because information generated by filing will be needed by colleges in order to effectively communicate your son’s tuition package.
Remember to bring all letters of acceptance and all letters of scholarship award to the counseling office.
Juniors
All junior parents should make plans to attend Junior Parent Night on Thursday, January 18 at 7 p.m. in Cemo Auditorium. At this meeting we will discuss the timeline for the college application process.
All junior parents should plan on setting up a junior conference with your son’s counselor. It is a brief (50 minute) consultation in which the student expresses their collegiate aspirations. All junior conferences should be finished before May 30.
All juniors are advised to take their first SAT on March 10 and again on May 5.
They should also take the ACT on April 14.
All juniors should log on to www.collegebaord.com/psatextra and, using the code in the upper right hand corner of their PSAT Score Report, sign up for the MyRoad® college search feature. This will assist the student in bringing his college plans into focus. Juniors should have done this prior to their Junior Conference.
