Counseling and guidance at St. Thomas High School is a vital part of the school community, extending various services to its students, faculty and parents. Recognizing the teachings of the Catholic Church, the counselors strive to promote Christian values within the St. Thomas community. The major objective of guidance is to support the student in making appropriate decisions and their assumption of responsibility for those choices. Counselors are attentive to both school-related and personal student concerns while encouraging academic excellence, and heightening career and social awareness.

Objectives:

to provide personal counseling to students
to provide assistance in academic planning and achievement
to provide up-to-date information regarding college admissions, financial aid and careers
to assist seniors in the college application process
to provide needed information and assistance to enable students to make responsible decisions
to consult with parents, faculty, deans, and administration on issues affecting the individual student as well as the entire St. Thomas community
to initiate and follow through on referrals made to other supportive community services
