Campus Ministry

Prayer/ Campus Ministry Announcements for May 12, 2008

Month of Mary

Prayer Intentions:
For all of our sick, suffering and injured
For all mothers
For our service men and women and their families
For peace and justice

Prayer:
God of all goodness, you fill your Church with the Holy Spirit that we may have life to the fullest.  Grant us zeal in sharing the gift of faith with all those who seek you, through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.

St. Thomas Aquinas… pray for us!

Scripture verse:             Isaiah 32:  15-18
When the Spirit from on high is poured out on us.  Then will the desert become an orchard and the orchard be regarded as a forest.  Right will dwell in the desert and justice abide in the orchard.  Justice will bring about peace; right will produce calm and security.  My people will live in peaceful country, in secure dwellings and quiet resting places.

Meditation:
This past Sunday the Church celebrated Pentecost Sunday.  This is our annual reminder of the transforming power of the Holy Spirit.  Just as the power of the Holy Spirit transformed the apostles from scared men to bold proclaimers of the Gospel on that first Pentecost, let us pray that the Holy Spirit will transform us from stressed out, self absorbed, and overwhelmed people, to Spirit filled Christians who live the life Jesus calls us to live.  Believe in the Power of the Spirit, and believe that God’s Spirit can help, guide, and empower you each and every day.  May the Spirit of Pentecost be with you today and every day.

Selective Service: This is a special announcement for all 17 and 18 year old men. We want to remind you according to Federal law, all men must register with Selective Service within 30 days of their 18th birthday. You must register with Selective Service to stay eligible for student loans, government jobs, job training, and obtaining or renewing a driver's license in most states. Registration is easy and takes only a matter of minutes. Simply go on-line at www.sss.gov or stop by the Counseling Office and see Mr. Cuneo. Please take this seriously and register!
