Debate/Forensic Team

Members of the Debate/Forensic Team at St. Thomas spend several hours per week conducting research, preparing arguments, and participating in practice debate rounds in preparation for tournaments. The team participates in approximately eight to ten tournaments per year, debating four different topics established by the National Forensic League. Joining the debate team only requires expressing an interest to one of the Debate coaches. While all students are encouraged to join at any time, freshmen interested in debate are encouraged to begin early, as debate skills are learned and evolve over time. Students, who start to debate as freshmen, are guaranteed to be insufferable by the time they are seniors! Debate Team teaches valuable skills that will help in school, in arguments with parents, as well as later in life. Mr. David Fritsch is the moderator.
