This summer, four of our students from St. Thomas High School, Adam Dunn (’20), Jordan Navarijo (’20), Carson Hechler (’20), and Augustus Boettcher (’21), had the opportunity to attend a three-week study abroad program in Rome through the University of Dallas.

The summer program offered through the University of Dallas provides opportunities for high school students to earn college credit. During the program, students travel through Italy studying Shakespeare, Latin, or Catholic tradition. Additionally, students are able to explore great works of literature and philosophy.

These upperclassmen from St. Thomas High School studied at the University of Dallas campus just outside of Rome in Due Santi. During the program, these students studied Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar, Merchant of Venice, and Taming of the Shrew in the respective cities in which they are set. Additionally, the students took trips to Rome, Padua, Venice, Vicenza, and Orvieto.

“The program was fantastic and life changing. It was a great way for Latin students, Shakespeare enthusiasts, and Catholics wanting to learn about their faith in Rome,” said Augustus Boettcher.
