Congratulations to our very own Pierce Jacobson on being named the Houston Chronicle Athlete of the Week on August 24!
Against the home opener against the John Cooper School, Jacobson, St. Thomas’ QB1, completed 16-of-18 passes for 345 yards and four touchdowns without an interception. He also rushed for 54 yards and another score. St. Thomas won the game 75-47.
Another standout player in that first game was senior Myles Stewart, who powered the ground game with 114 yards and four touchdowns on 12 carries. Junior Ben Creech caught six of Jacobson’s 16 completed passes for 169 yards and two touchdowns. Senior Web Lewis added 85 yards and two scores. Sophomore Da’Metreis Guy-Pittman completed three passes for 71 yards and two touchdowns, helping St. Thomas finish 19 of 24 passing as a unit, without an interception.
The defense also put up impressive stats, with Junior Kolbe Keeler returning an interception for 30 yards, Senior Kohen Alexander forcing and recovering a fumble, and Seniors Khairan McQueen and Dayton Dix recording sacks.
The following week, the Eagles faced Episcopal High School in Bellaire. While the first half ended with the Eagles up 20-7, some STH errors and a strong showing from the EHS team turned the game in the Knights’ favor, with the Eagles losing 30-37.
The St. Thomas squad has built momentum over their first two games–a decisive victory and a motivating, narrow loss–as they prepare to take on Lake Creek in Montgomery, TX on Sept. 4.
