PRINCIPAL AARON DOMINGUEZ

This vision set forth by the Basilian Fathers, our Board of Directors, and President Fr. Murphy is for St. Thomas High School (STH) to be among the top ten all-boy, urban Catholic high schools in the country.

The opportunity to assist in moving STH from an exemplary organization to a top ten organization, while simultaneously expanding into the Joplin campus, will serve as the foundational focus of my leadership.

Welcome!

Welcome to St. Thomas High School, where teaching goodness, discipline, and knowledge to young men is our sacred mission. I am honored and humbled to serve the St. Thomas community for the 2020-2021 school year. Coming home to St. Thomas as principal is a dream job and one the Lord has prepared me for throughout my career as a teacher and school leader.

The next several years at St. Thomas will be exciting ones as we expand into the new Joplin campus, increase our enrollment, and set our sights on being among the top ten all-boy, urban Catholic high schools in the country. As we pursue these new endeavors we will continue and expand upon the St. Thomas traditions of academic and athletic excellence.

I look forward to meeting and working with each of you as we together explore and attain unprecedented levels of excellence at St. Thomas High School. If you see me at a school event, walking the campus, or out enjoying our wonderful city please come up and introduce yourself, say hello, and share one thing that makes St. Thomas special.

Yours in Christ,
Aaron Dominguez ‘96

Dear STH Community,

In light of recent updates surrounding the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, St. Thomas High School has made the decision to not return to campus for face-to-face instruction for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year. It has become clear that it will be in the best interest, safety, health, emotional, and spiritual well-being of our STH community to continue remote learning and keep our no visitor policy in effect.

We have built systems and structures to deliver learning online for the time being, and while we recognize this system is not perfect, we believe it will allow us to successfully complete the year while we focus on our planning for the reopening of the school in the fall. We are grateful for the dedication and vigilant efforts of our teachers and staff who are helping to provide our students with a consistent learning environment and as normal a routine as possible.

We remain deeply committed to the on-going effort to cease the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic and stand together with our STH community as we navigate through this uncharted territory. We continue to work together to support students, faculty, staff, and families in the short- and long-term. Be assured that we will communicate any updates as they become available. We remain in constant communication with local health officials and state education agencies as we work to ensure the best maintenance of our school.

Thank you for your understanding and patience during this time while we work together to strengthen our community while practicing our motto of goodness, discipline, and knowledge.

Regards,

Fr. James Murphy, CSB                                             Dr. Aaron Dominguez

President, St. Thomas High School                         Principal, St. Thomas High School
