Wells Granger is a dynamic leader and standout student whose impact at St. Thomas High School reflects a commitment to goodness and excellence. As Student Body President, varsity football captain, and academic high-achiever, Wells exemplifies what it means to lead with integrity and purpose.
A three year football letter, Wells led his team in rushing yards last season and earned Academic First Team All-State honors. His leadership on the field mirrored his commitment in the classroom and community, serving four years on Student Council, including three as class representative and this year as SBP. Wells is a member of the National Honor Society and the Saint Thomas Club (6 semesters), and serves as both a Senior Leader and Round Up Board member.
Wells’ accomplishments continue a proud family tradition at St. Thomas. His grandfather, Ted Nowak (’70), was a two-time state football champion, Allnoch Award recipient, and STH Sports Hall of Fame inductee. His other grandfather, Weldon Granger, helped build the school’s first stadium and has long supported youth education. His father, John Granger II (’97), is the current Chair of the STH Investment Committee and a member of the Foundation Board since 2019.
The Nowak and Granger families have deep ties to St. Thomas, including great-uncles Leonard (’66) and Mike Nowak (’71); uncles Jason Granger (’00), Matt Nowak (’95), and Mark Nowak (’98). Wells’ brother, Alex (’27), as well as his cousins, Carter Nowak (’24), Dillon Doyle (’24), William Doyle (’26), Ryan Nowak (’28), and Andrew Nowak (’29) are continuing the STH tradition.
