Advanced Placement

The Advanced Placement Program is a cooperative educational endeavor between secondary schools and colleges and universities. The Program provides motivated St. Thomas students with the opportunity to take college-level courses in a high school setting. Students who participate in the AP program not only gain college-level skills, but they also earn college credit in many cases.

Students are required to take the national AP exam in lieu of the final for the Advanced Placement courses. St. Thomas students are very well prepared for the challenging standardized AP exams. In 2016, 82% of STH students who took AP exams in all disciplines were eligible for college credit based on their high scores. These courses are taught by dedicated and enthusiastic faculty who follow course guidelines developed and published by the College Board.
