Co-ed Enrichment Camps
St. Thomas High School’s Aquinas Academy is open to rising 3rd-8th grade boys and girls. We provide students with a variety of exciting and enriching classes, ranging from drama to physical education to STEM. Our classes are taught by experienced teachers from STH and other Houston area schools. We provide our campers the opportunity to have fun, learn, and make new friends in a safe and structured environment.
Aquinas Academy consists of four sessions, each lasting four days. Participants have the option of registering for a full or half-day program. They can choose their activities for their session, creating four days of personalized fun and educational adventure. Those who register for the full day program also have the option of bringing their lunch or purchasing lunch for the session.
Our extended day options allow parents to drop off their children as early as 8:00am and pick them up as late as 4:00pm. During those hours, campers can choose to participate in activities such as drawing, coloring, and playing board games.

Morning Classes
ART: What is Cubism?
Students will have fun creating a Picasso- inspired colored pencil drawing based on a musical theme utilizing a warm/ cool color scheme, along with learning about the Cubism style of art.
Readers’ Theater
Bring stories to life through voice, expression, and imagination! In this engaging Readers Theater class, students will explore short scripts, folktales, and favorite stories while developing confidence in reading aloud. Campers will practice fluency, comprehension, articulation, and expressive speaking as they work together to rehearse and perform scripts—no memorization or costumes required. Through fun group activities and collaborative performances, students will strengthen their reading skills while building teamwork and confidence.
Building with STEM
Students become engineers as they design, build, test, and improve hands-on projects using everyday materials. Each day presents a new challenge—from marble runs and balloon rockets to wind-powered vehicles and egg-drop designs—encouraging creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving. Campers learn to think like engineers by experimenting, analyzing what works (and what doesn’t), and refining their ideas through trial and error. No prior STEM experience is needed—just curiosity and a willingness to build! (Please note that while the concepts will be the same in the morning and afternoon classes, the activities will be different.)
Lawn Games
Get ready to dominate family vacations, beach parties, and at recess. Players will get the chance to play badminton, bocce ball, corn hole, 4 square, and horse shoes. Learn the rules so you can help your friends and have fun for many years to come.
Eagle Girls Cheer Class
“Eagle Girls” cheer class is the perfect setting to dive deep into STH cheers and dances. It’ll give you a chance to pick up new jumps and motions, practice with others, and get that real team energy going. Learning directly from an experienced STH cheer coach will definitely help you refine your technique and style.
Dynamic Drama
Step into the spotlight and explore the exciting world of performance in this “Dynamic Drama” class! Students will develop confidence, creativity, and teamwork through a variety of engaging activities, including:

In this fun and creative class, students will discover the art of beautiful handwriting! Students will learn basic calligraphy and hand-lettering techniques. Students will learn how to hold and use calligraphy pens and markers, practice foundational strokes, and explore different lettering styles. As their skills grow, campers will create colorful projects such as bookmarks, cards, name art, and decorative pieces they can take home and share.
Stitched with Love
In this hands-on creative class, campers will learn the basics of hand sewing and simple embroidery. Students will practice essential stitches, learn how to thread a needle, and create colorful designs using embroidery hoops, fabric, and thread. Campers will complete small projects they can proudly take home. This class builds patience, focus, and creativity—no experience needed, just ready hands and big imaginations!
StuCo Is Now in Session! Congressional Debate for Scholars
Students will learn to share ideas and problem-solving, practice public speaking, actively listen to others, and work together respectfully.
Along the way, they’ll strengthen their interpersonal communication skills, and have plenty of fun doing it!
Afternoon Classes

Pinewood Derby
Get ready to design, build, and race your own miniature car in this exciting “Pinewood Derby” class! This hands-on class is perfect for beginners and experienced racers alike. Participants will learn about aerodynamics, weight distribution, and creative design by creating practice cars with Legos first. The real test will come when they craft their own wooden race car from a kit. We’ll cover essential skills such as cutting, sanding, painting, and adding wheels for maximum speed.
At the end of the class, we’ll put our cars to the test in an official Pinewood Derby Race, where participants can see whose design crosses the finish line first!
Biology I
Get ready for a summer filled with excitement, discovery, and hands-on learning! Join us for a fun, creative, and hands-on summer sewing class designed for students in grades 3-8! This class is perfect for beginners who want to learn the basics of sewing, as well as for those with a little experience who are looking to build their skills and complete exciting projects. Students will learn machine-sewing techniques, while exploring their creativity through a variety of fun and easy projects.
Storytelling for Scholars
Scholars will focus their attention on four competition speech events: Impromptu Speaking, Storytelling, Prose, and Poetry. They will have frequent opportunities to present in front of others as they learn to inform, persuade, and entertain through the power of words.

Calling all wizards! Cease being a Muggle and begin your journey as a Scholar at Hogwarts School in the wizarding world of the Harry Potter books! Share your favorite book and zoom into the most memorable adventures like creating a golden snitch to compete in a round of Quidditch, or designing your own Hogwarts floor plan.

There are over 50+ sport games in the world. This class will explore and play a variety of games like pickle ball, gaga ball, ping pong, and many more! Come ready to learn a new and unique set of sport games this summer.
Art of War: Way of the Knight
Prepare for a journey into medieval warfare and knightly tradition in Art of War: Way of the Knight. Campers will learn how strategy, symbolism, and skill shaped the lives of knights. Activities include learning and playing chess to understand tactical thinking, designing a unique coat of arms, and constructing foam weapons for imaginative combat. With a mix of history, creativity, and active play, this camp offers a fun and educational introduction to the art, discipline, and legend of the medieval knight.
LEGO City Innovators: Smart Cities & Sustainability
Students become city planners and engineers as they design a LEGO-based “smart city.” Emphasis is placed on sustainability, infrastructure, and how systems work together to support communities.

Even though we are surrounded by buildings and busy streets in Houston, there is still an active natural world thriving around us. In this class we will explore and learn about several aspects of the Gulf Coast region of Texas through hands-on activities and experiments.

Are you a comics fan? Then come dive into the marvelous world of comics. We’ll begin by analyzing popular comics, noting your favorite heroes and debating their power ranks. In the end, we’ll create a full plotline and story arch for a character of your own creation. When the world is in need of a hero, who will you create to save the day?
PE Favorites
Get ready to play all the classics! PE Favorites brings together the most-loved games and activities from PE into one action-packed class. Each day, campers will jump into a mix of favorite team games, relay races, cooperative challenges, and high-energy activities that keep everyone moving and having fun.
Shuffle, Deal, and Play
Join us for a fun-filled class all about card games! Campers will learn classic and modern card games, from strategy-based games like Gin, Hearts, Spades and Poker (kid-friendly versions) to fast-paced games like Speed and Slapjack. We’ll teach the rules, strategies, and even a few tricks to impress friends and family. Along the way, kids will develop critical thinking, math skills, and good sportsmanship—all while having a blast! Whether you’re a beginner or a card game pro, this class is the perfect way to shuffle up some summer fun!
LEGO Design Studio: Inventors & Problem Solvers
Students take on the role of inventors, using LEGO bricks to design solutions to real-world problems. This course emphasizes creativity, prototyping, testing, and presentation skills.
Eagle Girls Cheer Class
“Eagle Girls” cheer class is the perfect setting to dive deep into STH cheers and dances. It’ll give you a chance to pick up new jumps and motions, practice with others, and get that real team energy going. Learning directly from an experienced STH cheer coach will definitely help you refine your technique and style.
Weather & Meteorology
Living along the Gulf Coast of Texas, we can experience hot humid summer days, tropical storms, seasonal winter freezes, and an occasional tornado. In this class we will make some instruments that are used to make predictions about the weather, like barometers and thermometers, and explore some experiments that will help us understand what is going on in our atmosphere.
Script & Scribbles
In this fun and creative class, students will discover the art of beautiful handwriting! Students will learn basic calligraphy and hand-lettering techniques. Students will learn how to hold and use calligraphy pens and markers, practice foundational strokes, and explore different lettering styles. As their skills grow, campers will create colorful projects such as bookmarks, cards, name art, and decorative pieces they can take home and share.
Stitched with Love
In this hands-on creative class, campers will learn the basics of hand sewing and simple embroidery. Students will practice essential stitches, learn how to thread a needle, and create colorful designs using embroidery hoops, fabric, and thread. Campers will complete small projects they can proudly take home. This class builds patience, focus, and creativity—no experience needed, just ready hands and big imaginations!
Afternoon Classes
Art: Tissue Paper Collage
Students will have fun creating an abstract styled or themed based collage using fade resistant colored tissue paper and Mod Podge.
Junk Journaling
Turn everyday scraps into meaningful works of art! In this creative and relaxing junk journaling class, students will transform everyday materials—such as paper scraps, magazines, tickets, and fabric—into personalized journals. Campers will explore collage, layering, and lettering techniques while learning how journaling can be used for self-expression, storytelling, and reflection. Each day encourages creativity, mindfulness, and artistic confidence as students design pages that capture memories, ideas, and inspiration. By the end of the week, campers will leave with a one-of-a-kind handmade journal and a toolbox of creative techniques they can continue using all summer long.

Art of War: Way of the Knight
Prepare for a journey into medieval warfare and knightly tradition in Art of War: Way of the Knight. Campers will learn how strategy, symbolism, and skill shaped the lives of knights. Activities include learning and playing chess to understand tactical thinking, designing a unique coat of arms, and constructing foam weapons for imaginative combat. With a mix of history, creativity, and active play, this camp offers a fun and educational introduction to the art, discipline, and legend of the medieval knight.
LEGO Mechanical Engineering Camp: Build It to Work
Students design and build mechanical LEGO creations that move and perform tasks using only basic LEGO bricks and simple components. Through hands-on challenges, students explore how structure, motion, and force work together, while practicing collaboration and iterative design—without any coding or electronics.
Stretch & Style: Rainbow Loom Bracelets
Get ready to loop, stretch, and create with Rainbow Loom Creations! Using colorful rubber bands and looms, you’ll design bright, stretchy bracelets full of personality. Whether you’re mastering the fishtail, learning a single chain, or inventing your own pattern, this class is all about creativity, color, and making wearable art you’ll love to show off!
Texas Naturalist II
Even though we are surrounded by buildings and busy streets in Houston, there is still an active natural world thriving around us. In this class we will explore and learn about several aspects of the Gulf Coast region of Texas through hands-on activities and experiments.
*Please note that it is not necessary for students to have attended this class during Week 3 in order to participate in Week 4. Students will be able to jump right in and fully engage with the activities, labs, and lessons planned for the week.*

Join us for a fun, creative, and hands-on summer sewing class designed for students in grades 3-8! This class is perfect for beginners who want to learn the basics of sewing, as well as for those with a little experience who are looking to build their skills and complete exciting projects. Students will learn machine-sewing techniques, while exploring their creativity through a variety of fun and easy projects.
