For Unto Us A Child is Born!

As we open each Christmas card and unwrap each gift this Christmas season, we must reflect on the precious gift, wrapped in swaddling clothes, that is given to all.

The gifts we receive from friends and family often require care and attention. Some items may require refrigeration, while others must be kept at room temperature. Some assembly may be required. Batteries may not be included.  One size may not fit all. Some items may need to be returned with receipt.

The gift of God’s Son also requires care and attention. For Mary and Joseph, this gift required full agreement with God’s plan for the world. The same agreement is sought from us, as well. Will we care for and nurture Christ in our hearts in such a way that Christ becomes even more present in the world? Will we work to growth in faith, hope, and love so that these ideals become the clearest evidence of God’s saving action?

At St. Thomas High School we must allow the gift of God’s Son to fully impact our learning of Goodness, Discipline, and Knowledge. The ideals we share every day in our school prayers and in our home lives have their roots in the Father’s generous love and goodness, the Son’s faithful discipline, and the Spirit’s wisdom and source of all knowledge.

May this Holy Season truly be a gift to the entire St. Thomas family – and through us – to the world!

Merry Christmas!
