Instead of winding down after the final bell in May, St. Thomas High School shifts gears into a season of growth, leadership, and transformation. Through a wide range of academic courses, athletic training, and immersive experiences, the school’s summer programs offer high school students and 3rd-8th graders the chance to learn new skills and enjoy an educational summer.

Across campus, the Youth Athletic Camps are in full swing. Here, young athletes train under the guidance of St. Thomas coaches and high school players. Whether on the baseball diamond, football field, or track, these camps prioritize discipline, strength, and technique.

“Investing in youth football camps is an investment in the future of our program,” football Head Coach Ray Davis said. “It cultivates talent, builds character, and fosters a love for the game that will stay with these players for years to come.”

For younger campers, Aquinas Academy offers rising 3rd through 8th-grade boys and girls the chance to explore new topics, make new friends, and enjoy their summers to the fullest. The academy provides a selection of camps where students receive productive and personalized instruction from coaches and teachers. In the classroom, campers engage in hands-on science experiments and enrichment activities, grouped in small class sizes for optimal learning opportunities. Outside, young athletes play, train, and practice with collegiate and high school-level student-athletes and coaches on St. Thomas’ state-of-the-art sports fields and facilities.

“Aquinas Academy offers students a chance to build lasting friendships with peers from all over Houston, many of whom they’ll see again in high school,” Director of Campus Activities Carol Mandola shared. “My own children will start at St. Thomas this fall and are already excited to be in school with the friends they made during their summers at STH.”

What ties these programs together is the commitment of St. Thomas faculty and staff. These leaders bring the same passion to summer that they do during the school year, guiding students with purpose and teaching goodness, discipline, and knowledge.

“It’s incredible to see the younger campers’ faces light up when we do demonstrations,” science and Summer Camp teacher Noel Romero (‘08) said. “We show them phenomena that they are perhaps seeing for the first time, like making green fire or making a battery out of potatoes. It is my prayer that we are instilling in campers of all ages a passion and curiosity for science. I think this year’s science summer camps are going to be the most engaging and rewarding yet.”

For families looking to turn summer into a season of transformation, St. Thomas offers a compelling path forward: rigorous, relational, and rooted in a mission to develop young men of character and excellence.
